Color Blocking with Orange Jeans

Summer Shorts

This summer I am committed too breaking away from wearing my typical denim shorts. There are so many trendy shorts out this season it's hard to know where to start. Not only have I seen lots of great shorts to buy but I've also seen some great DIY ideas. After hours of difficult research(looking at shorts online); I've compiled a list of interesting shorts.

June 2012 Birchbox

This month's birchbox was one of my favorite so far. The theme of the birchbox was travel-friendly products, since many people will be traveling this summer. The box contained 5 products; I'm excited to try most of them.

The first product in my birchbox is the theBalm cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen. This rose colored lip and cheek tint. This would be a nice less expensive alternative to Benefit's Benetint; although the full size version contains slightly less product.

Sample value: $2.27(.04 fl oz)

The next product in my birchbox was the Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream. This Japanese cream helps moisturize dry skin, cuticles, chapped lips and more. I tried this product on my lips it worked really well but the smell kind of grossed me out.

Sample value: $1.28(.1 oz)
I also received the Borghese Bagno Di Vita Soak. The mineral rich crystals are supposed to help moisturize skin and sooth tired muscles. I probably wont use this body soak since I don't take baths. But if I find the time I'm sure they'll be a nice treat.
Sample Value: $3.5(.7 oz)
The last beauty product in my birchbox was an Eyeko Fat Eye Stick. I was very excited to get a full sized makeup product in my birchbox. This black eye pencil with settle shimmer will be perfect for creating a smokey eye.
Sample Value: $15(full size)

My lifestyle extra was a Chocolate Peppermint LUNA Bar; I've ate LUNA bars before and absolutely love them. This was honestly the favorite part of my birchbox. I excitedly quickly wolfed it down forgetting to take a picture of it. I used my birchbox points to order these. This sample was worth $1.25.

Overall Birchbox
Value: $23.30
Opinion: One of my favorite birchbox's yet! I absolutely love the Eyeko Fat Eye Stick.

Elf Haul

I ordered a few items from e.l.f. a few weeks ago. I've purchased several elf items from target before and they've always been hit or miss for me. They were running one of their promotions online where you could purchase the elf studio brush set for only $3 with a $30 purchase. I'd heard good things about elf studio brushes so I was interested in purchasing the set regardless of the sale. In addition to the brush set I bought the 144 eyeshadow palette, studio pressed powder, complete coverage concealer, makeup removal cloths, and individual lashes.

I love this 11 piece brush set it has a nice variety of face and eye brushes. This would be a great brush set for people just starting their makeup collection.

The makeup removing cloths are pretty nice. They're not really great or terrible for me. They're a nice in exspensive option for traveling. They're a bit too harsh for my skin.

I haven't worn the individual lashes yet. I doubt the included lash glue will be much good. But I'm excited to wear these for slightly more dramatic than typical mascara-coated lashes.

I've heard really good things about this powder; it seems that it works for most people. It worked on bare skin for me but was too dark and blotchy over cream and liquid based products. I might use this up but definitely won't repurchase it.

This complete coverage concealer is my new best friend.  I love that I can mix shades especially since it's summer and my skin tone will be changing. I was surprised that the lightest shade is the only that fits my skin tone right now. This concealer has decent coverage and is amazing for the price. I would repurchase this item in a heartbeat.

The last thing I purchased is the 144 eyeshadow palette. For only $15 I couldn't resist buying this. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the eyeshadow. This is a nice less expensive alternative to purchasing a coastal scents palette.
